In my opinion if you're a new pipe smoker and you're not able to smoke this blend you might as well lay the pipe down. Or throw a dash in whatever your favorite Aro blend might be. Highly recommended! Criticise this all you want for its being an aromatic, but what's undeniable is how mild it is and how well it burns. Requires few relights, and leaves a little moisture in the bowl. The closest to BCA in the Captain Black line would be Captain Black Dark. After smoking CBD I didn't think I could find a Cavendish blend that could compare. Whenever I'm going to be around non-smokers, I smoke this and almost always get compliments, sometimes delivered in low undertones by the family members who have assorted convictions against smoking in general. I have found that I am more of a burley blend fan. My palate is nowhere near sensitive enough to comment anything about taste, however, I would say that it was smooth and mild, and a very pleasant experience. Trying to find that one. The tobacco was dark and rich and needed just a few minutes drying before packing and lighting. Very cool smoking, like an ice cube and gets better as you go down the bowl. For an all-day smoke, I prefer an aromatic, and I smoke 1Q on a daily basis, but I mix in a hefty portion of Lane's BCA and Burley Lite. I find it works best for me if I put it in a roll-up tobacco pouch and let it sit around for a few weeks. It's flavor is typical for this sort of tobacco, slight marshmallow sweetness but it's aroma is rather unique and outstanding. It was great on his own and I added to each of those as well.
